Usually we view the story of Christ’s birth rather like looking at it through a telescope. We can see only small sections, isolated and very distant from the world in which we live. It’s so far away that the people hardly look real. It’s so far removed from us that we hardly even need to think about it… and we can easily forget that there was a time “before”. We can easily forget that the night of that awesome event made life turn and never be the same again for anybody. Not for those who were there that night, and not for us now.

“Such a Night as This” takes us to that place on the other end of the telescope’s view. It lets us be there and feel it and understand how it affected those “before” people, so that, hopefully, we will never again feel casual about the forever and always changes that came on the world as a result of One tiny baby’s first breath.
